Developing Constructive Relationships

Developing Constructive RelationshipsIn today’s ever changing society it’s almost impossible to predict who you will be working or partnering with. Social media brings such a diverse and rapid amount of individuals into our lives, it’s almost impossible to keep an account.

Since everyone of us have limitations, we are predestined to need each other. Success is rarely found on the efforts of one person alone and therefore, when we find those individuals who share the same vision and dedication as ourselves, when joining forces, anything can be possible.

And the LORD said, Behold, the people are one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. –Genesis 11:6

Here are a few suggestions to use to cultivate and grow a strong working relationship:

  1. Use Every Interaction as an Opportunity to Build the Relationship.
Always treat people with respect and support. Assume they are acting with the best intentions of the overall desired goal.
  2. Acknowledge Problems Openly, Honestly, and Objectively.
Deal with conflicts as they arise. Ask yourself: What’s causing this challenge? How can I minimize it? Constructive relationships are not all about “making nice.” They’re about working together effectively. So be honest with yourself and others.
  3. Share Information.
Discuss changes that affect you and the group involved.

Communicate how your group’s work affects the overall outcome.

Involve others in work or decisions that affect them. Work with others to plan for smooth coordination or work and mutual success.

  4. Relationship building is a skill that must be developed and is vital for overall success in any medium. We are not islands, nor should we operate to that capacity. Seek help when needed and take every opportunity to cultivate an edifying relationship.

Interesting insight to the tower of babel.

I don’t think we realize how even small encounters with people can impact them and ourselves. Life is too short to let any opportunity pass you by- we must take the chance, step out of our comfort zones and embrace what comes our way!

I totally agree TC.  Small encounters can be powerful!

I feel that I am building the necessary relationships and God is Leading me to them. He is allowing me to build relationships that will strengthen every area of my life that is lacking. I will then turn around and share that with others. I love sharing great content.

I don’t know if that is the verse you want to use…since it was people getting together to do something evil in that case…

maybe a little Ecclesiastes 4:12 “Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

Though their intent was wrong, the process remains the same. I am by no means promoting their intent. But, do you realize what the Lord is saying about “man”? And as the story goes on, He puts a stop to it Himself. To me this is powerful and shows what we are capable of when we work together. But, I find this to be the true essence of teamwork. When we are one accord and speaking the same language (of the heart) we can do great things. I cannot control motives, nor do I intent to, but whether you are just or unjust the same principles apply.
